Studio Handcrafted Glass

Studio Handcrafted Glass

Studio Handcrafted Glass

Ever since I was a child I have loved studio handcrafted glass. It all started with a beautiful studio handcrafted vase that my mother had on display in our house from when I was very young. The studio handcrafted glass vase was a brilliant blue color and when I was young I used to stare at all of the different shades of blue and imagine myself soaring above the earth in the brilliant blue sky.

When my mother moved into a nursing home and gave away many of her things I asked for that studio handcrafted glass vase because it had so many lovely memories and now it has pride of place on my mantelpiece. After that I found some other beautiful pieces of studio handcrafted glass on the internet and have started quite a collection of all different types of glass. Some of the studio handcrafted glass pieces that I have collected so far are:

  1. Japanese Authentic Studio Handcrafted Glass Floats: These are an aquamarine blue and I have a number of them featured in an old bathtub in my yard, which has a Japanese theme. They are so unusual and are a huge talking point when I have parties outside – which I often do;
  2. Ruby Studio Handcrafted Glass Perfume bottle: This perfume bottle is absolutely delightful I haven’t been able to work out what year it was made but it was a mother’s day present from my 5 year old filled with my very favorite French Perfume so it is very dear to my heart even if it isn’t a collectors item;
  3. Sun Catcher Friendship Witches Ball Studio Handcrafted Glass: This one is another quirky piece in my collection. It comprises of beautiful green and red dots all around the ornament and when I hang it in my window the light that it catches when it is moving in the breeze is rather mesmerizing. I actually now have a few of these studio handcrafted glass in different colors because I love them so much but the original one that I bought will always be the favorite;
  4. Handmade Studio Handcrafted Vase from Poland: This studio handcrafted glass vase is the opposite of my original vase and is a vibrant red on the inside and cream on the outside; they offset each other very well at either end of the mantelpiece. This one was a gift as well from my husband just to say that he loved me. He told me that he had seen it online and just had to buy it for me because it was so beautiful;
  5. A Handmade Studio Handcrafted Bluebird of Happiness: I have always loved these bluebirds of happiness but had been unsuccessful finding one online to purchase. Well when I was at the local school fete I was rummaging through a box of old bric a brac and this was at the bottom in perfect condition and I bought it for 50 cents. It is so gorgeous and it sits on my dresser and I smile when I see it every morning before I start my day;
  6. Art Deco Studio Handcrafted Glass Hat: This is another one of the bargains that I have found in my search for studio handcrafted glass pieces for my collection. It reminds me of caramel ice cream with its swirls of white and tan throughout. This was in a thrift shop all dusty on the top shelf and once I saw it I knew I had to have it;
  7. Rainbow Diamond Quilt Studio Handcrafted Pitcher: This beautiful piece in my collection is in yellow, blue and pink ribbon glass, which is pretty rare to find. It wasn’t cheap as it is a collectors item but well worth the price that I paid online against the other bidders;
  8. Studio Handcrafted Glass Marble: This is a particularly beautiful piece with the marble itself being made from clear glass with swirls of color – green, pink, black and white in the center I can watch it for hours and hours and find it strangely soothing;
  9. Set of Six Handcrafted Studio Glass Dessert Cups in Pastel Colors Mint & Purple: These are one of my latest purchases and are gorgeous examples of art deco studio handcrafted glass. These I keep in my display cabinet I would hate to break one as they are very hard to find in mint condition like these and also as a complete set;
  10. Vintage Amber Studio Glass Handcrafted Wine Decanter art deco: I bought this one last week and that was because my husband loved it as he has a wonderful art deco bar set up in our basement. He is an architect and is just mad over art deco so when I saw this I immediately though of him.

These are just some of the many studio handcrafted glass pieces that I have managed to collect so far and really what you will buy for your collection very much relies on your own personal taste in studio handcrafted glass. From art pieces to cute ornaments, to very special art deco or vases with the colors of the rainbow infused. There is studio handcrafted glass for every type of collector. I find my items online and school fetes, garage sales all over the place I am always on the lookout for new pieces of studio handcrafted glass to add to my collection, which is gradually growing every week as I add my special finds.
